Anyone else tinkered with something that was fine in the interest of inproving it then broken it? I tried to update my new Xperia T and nearly bricked it. Luckily there is a repair install option so all I lost were my apps and settings.
Come on, share what you wish you had left alone.

I had a phone firmware update and thought I knew what I was doing - it took about an hour in total to update and found all my apps that had been put into their own folders had separated and I had about 30 pages of apps!! I spent another hour putting them back into new collective folders - I read the manual about updates etc. and I only needed to change a setting on the preferences and I would not have wasted a lot of time. I don't do manuals usually, but now with IT / Technology becoming ever more complicated, I am now checking the manuals or instructions properly. I have changed phones and firmware various times since and no need to do anything but plug in and go....

I own a 1968 Landrover - I do this sort of thing all the time. I usually goes...
"I'll just give it a once over with the spanners to make sure everything is as tight as it should be, maybe stop a couple of oil leaks? ............. Ah, 5hit!" The result is either a rounded nut, snapped stud/bolt, or a cracked part, all probably leading to more oil leaks ![]() |

I fried an mp3 player by doing a software upgrade on it, it specifically said at the end of the process I should right click on the usb icon and remove it safely that way. Of course I'm a man, we don't do that

Countless times, usually followed by breaking what ever the projectile spanner hits afterwards as well.
For me it usually goes; c'mon I can do this just a little more...SNAP - ****!, *launches spanner* SMASSSSHHH, FUUUUUCCCCKKKKK...*goes for brew* Surprisingly things havnt magically repaired whilst I was off making said brew so then I stand looking at it sulking for a while before having a moment where I suddenly realise a much easier solution to the whole thing which I execute in a fraction of the time. Feel proud of my solution for a moment before realising the damage Im still required to repair. |
