Excuse me but you might want to use spellcheck. You're welcome

"I have always found your toilets to be of a very high standard..."

They will see this remark and file the letter in the 'Ramblings of an idiot' file.

Maybe when the bouncer said 'excuse me' if you had responded like a normal person the whole situation would have been different?

I agree with Paul. The bouncer's response seems a little over the top but your attitude towards him when he was trying to do his job was clearly going to be antagonistic. I suspect they get hundreds of couriers and other folk just using them as a public convenience.

Obviously I wasn't there but I really don't think you have much cause for complaint given your disrespectful behaviour prior to his overzealous response.

May be worth considering how your response to a bouncer or any other staff member is likely to be taken before you end up as a smart-**** with a busted face.

however paul, to me it sounded like a perfectly reasonable response, especially if it was said in a calm tone of voice.

the reason they have the 'boucners' is to stop drunk people who are walking by from using them and so that customers can continue to use them.

in what way was his behaviour disrespectful? to me it sounded far, far politer than was necessary for the man in question.

i know i don't know you, but from this response you obviously haven't been to a soho meet and encountered these bouncers, because they are to55ers most of the time. they have seen us when we have been outside all evening, holding the said companys coffee cups in our hands (and we are literally just outside the front door!). yet they still act in this way, a similar thing has happened to me in the past and i have had to get one the people from behind the counter to tell the 'bouncer' to wind his neck in and let me use their toilets!!

For what its worth, there's no excuse for the security staff's reaction. Even if the OP's response has come across as flippant or whatever, the overreaction is wrong. People shouldn't focus on the OP's response too much. The real wrong here is the threat made by the security staff.

If the circumstances suggested there was more to it then I'm sure the CCTV would bear it out. Were it the case that one of us here felt aggrieved at being stopped by the Police whilst out for a ride, for no apparent reason, and your annoyance of the situation led to a threat of violence from an officer, some people would be up in arms (by the way, I love the police Just using some creative license).

If this were a court, perhaps the judge would say the OP contributed to the situation but the wrongdoing would be that of the security staff. If we were talking manners and common sense then I imagine the OP has learnt something from the situation and would perhaps reconsider the approach used. But the person in the wrong would still be the security staff.

If the facts are as stated then someone should have a little chat with the security staff.

I'm with Paul on this.

You could have avoided the confrontation by just stopping instead of just looking like a smart ar$e
He was just doing his job and although he should not have threatened you, you were acting like a prick (and I can only guess as someone who wasn't there but just reading your side of things, you probably need a good punch in the face from time to time so that you may learn some respect and to bring you down off your high horse...)

Next time someone says "excuse me" it may have been because you have just dropped your wallet

Common courtesy costs nothing and from what you have written, you showed very little.

Enjoy the rest of your day

I've not been to a Soho meet or experienced this Nero however looking at the OP.....

No sooner than I had taken one step inside when a Bouncer / Doorman said "Excuse me" in a tone of voice I can only describe as hostile. - so clearly best be sensible-To which I replied "you're Excused",- so decided to be a smart ass - now at this point he became Irate and more animated as I proceeded towards my intended destination. He Repeated himself and I did also.- which was helpful to the situation - The bouncer seemed to have been a little deaf as once again he repeated himself and I decided my need to 'go' was more pressing than procrastinating this guy any further as he became more hostile with every repetition. So once again in the same plain tone i repeated "your welcome!"- or you may just as well have called him a tosser to his face -

Seems to me you were purposefully antagonising him and were lucky not to get a slap. Maybe he should have recognised you and he certainly should not have over reacted but I don't see you as blameless in bouncer-baiting. Would you want to have his job of turning away drunken idiots all evening only to have some smart-assed biker have a verbal pop at you?

If the bouncers regularly treat you without respect you should complain to the franchise owner about their behaviour or find somewhere else to drink your overpriced coffee. Picking fights with bouncers is never smart as they all talk to each other and you'll find yourselves having problems throughout the area if you carry on.
