Help, when I put it into gear it stops. - SV650.org

i have sv650s 2000reg. it starts fine pull the clutch, and put it in gear and stops dead with the stand up. i thought it might be the side stand switch, but i've replaced and bypassed it, and replaced the relay. and still no joy.

sometimes i do make it out the drive and it will backfire and is so ruff as the engine cuts engine in and out. it used(2/3 months ago) to do it every now and then and over the last month and a bit its just not ridable any more

i did derestrict it feb/march if that makes a difference. i have no clue what t do next?

HELP. please

Sounds like fueling or carbs.

Is the airbox on properly & are the carb rubbers fine and in the right place.

Did you squash or kink the fuel line when you put the tank back?

As you've been messing with the carb's that's the first place I'd be looking

Was it ok to ride before you took the restrictors off.

Could be the clutch dragging. If it starts and idles fine and side stand switch is eliminated, thats what I'd guess at. Does the bike lunge forward when you put it in gear?

it works

Cheers for all the help, turned out it was a loose cable into the bottom of the relay. must have upset it when i change the battery earlier in the year.
