Default Gutted my K&N

So, I finally got round to gutting my K&N air filter ready for my re-jet over the weekend.

Half an hour with a Dremel using a cutting disc and then a sanding attachment and I'm left with this:

Not the neatest job in the world, but it will do. Having said that I did manage to just about nick the top of the wire mesh through the plastic (bottom right of photo), but thankfully no harm done:

One thing I have done is cut the rubber sealing gasket a bit short:

Will this affect the seal at all? It does come with some kind of sealing grease and is obviously screwed down, so hopefully not. Any thoughts?
