I have been wondering, itīs often suggested to replace the rear shock with a ZX-model and upgrade the front end with a gsxr-USD.
But how about fitting a steering damper on a SV650S? Any models better, then another to take it from? I know, no matter what, it needs a set of brackets to be mounted, as there is no part to replace, but I use my bike as a trackday-rocket and the ones that has come in spare looks cheap on ebay. So why not try, without it will be a big expence doing it? ![]() But should it come from a specific bike to suit mine? Some that are easier to get a set of brackets for then another? Anything I need to be aware of? I know in the perfect world, I should get an aftermarket-model - but my wallet dosnīt live in the perfect world, so if I should try it out it has to be a cheap solution. ![]() |

I used a Gixer steering damper on my K 8, but that came with the K7 750 Gixer front end I installed.
It did make a difference on some track days, but mostly was irrelevant. It's hard to get a wriggle on the front end (especially when your suspension is sorted), but horses for courses and personal choice in the end of the day. |

Okay.
I think the damping should be about the same in all of them, right? But how about stroke length? |

The GSXR one is the same as the SV1000. Not sure I the 650 has the mounting bosses as standard though. I took mine off of my thou and to date have not missed it.

There is a type that mounts on the headstock spindle, that should fit anything. But it's a waste of time, it's not a bike that slaps. Give it a try before you spend time and money.

But you are right, properbly a waste of time. But who knows - when winter comes and I need a project, then maybe I try anyway. ![]() |
