My phone is old and past it. So went to arrange a new contract yesterday.
Carphone warehouse had a problem with their systems whenever they tried to enter my details with EE. So back again today, where I failed a credit check. Gone home and checked my experian record where I score 992 and described as excellent. there are no searches that I would not expect. All my accounts are recorded as satisfactory. I have checked my bank accounts and they are all healthy. So why the hell should I be declined a phone contract. Oh. What I went for was a bit funny. it shows a 20gb data but says 3g, carphone warehouse say cannot be 3g as ee is 4g and wouldn't think of offering that as a 3g proposition. So unless the decline is due to the offer no longer being available??

So the same has just happened at the EE shop, they said it may be your bank security
Been into the local branch, no not them, my accounts are healthy, never used overdraft facility, never had a payment request declined. Wierd, why don't EE want me?

They have probably been reading your grumpy grumblings on here and don't fancy having you shout down the phone at them.

Not had someone use your address for a dodgy loan Tim?
we had loads of debt recovery firms chasing a lady, who'd used our address and phone number to get a loan. hasn't stopped me getting new credit cards or phones, but it might be something like that. No CCJ's on your addresses.

Thanks Mike
A quick google suggests others with excellent credit have fallen foul of them. FFS my daughter who I keep having to bail out can get a contract with them. But not me. I just paid for a multi agency credit check which shows all the failed attempts to check me yesterday at carphone warehouse (system kept stopping mid check) and those of today. Yet my record shows everything ok. So damn annoying. If there was something I could get it corrected. But there is nothing there.

Yep, I'd heard of this before, something on the Martin Lewis Tv show mentioned about not having a good credit was a good thing in some circumstances!

sounds to me like they dont want people with good credit ratings as they know that these people will pay their bills so cant charge them other fees for late payments etc.etc.

If you get good EE coverage take a look at the new BTMobile offerings. If you have BT broadband etc you can get mobile for about £5 month. However if you want latest fancy phones and gig of data tehn probably not for you.

So went to o2
Got the same phone and data etc, for £15/month (Thanks to a discount through work) cheaper than EE wanted. HTC M9, 20GB data, unlimited calls and something called texts whatever they are. OK 4G coverage isn't as good as EE. But I get a good 4g signal around home area and the local work office. EEs loss is my/O2s gain. PAC code entered and waiting for the number transfer to happen. Would be interesting to find out why EE declined me though. O2 credit check was as expected, clean.
