Help some of me electrics have stopped working.
Last week when i was riding back to work i noticed the oil light flicker on when the engine was idle. As soon as i increased the revs it would go off. So after a good wash (not pressure wash with bike running) yesterday i noticed the same thing happening, so i checked the oil level and thought it looked low so topped it up and started the bike up no problem. Then disaster struck, the neutral light went out and also my trip clock, indicators dont work and neither does the horn. No Brake light either. So i turned it off and started it again, started fine with dipped headlights and full beam ok but still no indicators, neutral light, tripcounter, horn or brake light. Are these things all on the same circuit ?? Could it be a fuse or a short ? What should i check first ?? Please help as it was a great day for the bike to work today and i had to sit ****ed off in the traffic. Thanks in Advance. Simon nb its an orginal sv s i have. |

That happened to me
Its a blown fuse, fuse box is under the seat go through them one by one until you find the blown one I expect its one of the main 30 amp fuses thats gone, sorry to be vague but I took my bike to a dealer to get it fixed because I couldnt work out what happened, but my bike was completely dead it had nothing not even headlights and it wouldnt start sounds like yours is a bit different. Also I found the cause of the fuse blowing, it was caused some some leads rubbing against the frame and the insulation had worn off and the bare wires were shorting the electrics hope this helps

The main fuse is 30amp, and there is only one. Everything dies if that goes though, so thats not it.

The SV has an electronic trip for the indicators, if your short they go of until next restart of the system (key-off-on). This also applies for horn and brake lights.
Seems to me that you've got a shafted wire shorting to ground. First step is disconnect your rear electrics under main seat (indicators, plate light, brake light). If horn starts working then the shaft is rear end. Remember you must turn electrics off and on every time you try. |

15 amp fuse blown so replaced and tested, it blew again when i touched the rear brake so more investigation needed in that area as well as another couple of fuses.
