Well i got to do what i have wanted to do for a long time... try a litre class bike.. I went to the shop for the test ride and tested both of the above mentioned... here are my thoughts for those who are interested.
Honda SP2 52 plate As soon as i sat on the bike, it felt like my **** was 10 feet in the air. Very head down, **** up, and over the front wheel. Starting it, it sounded lovley with the standard zorsts and had little vibration, but uncomforatable as sin. Pull away, and imediatly i can tell this thing has alot of grunt, but dodgy fuel injection. I get to a roundabout where i take a not too sharp left... lots of power and the bike felt like it was on rails... Full throttle on... throught 3,4,5,6... this thing can shift, seriously quick. Get to the next roundabout and i take a trip all the way round, fairly quick.. not even so much as a flinch from the bike... absolute dream.. Start to use it as i would in town riding (BAD idea).. below 30 miles per hour this bike is a dog, very bad fuel injection, jerky throttle, the suspension is so hard that any bump is sent straight to your throttle hand, thus you blip the throttle, thats after your **** gets back on the seat. This bike turns heads... even other bikers look in lust... On the way back to the shop, i open it up again on a roundabout (big roundabout) and come round the corner, all is well... ******* infront decides that he wants to stop at an amber light.... very sharply.. i use the brakes and stop with in half the distance i would on the SV. These brakes are awsome... Over all.. I knew this bike was meant for the track and that was very aparent when i rode it... good brakes, good handling when your 'on it' smooth power delivery, not so harsh engine braking.... absolutly stunning, a really head turner Bad handling when your not 'on it', horrible under 30mph.. especially at 22mph, very uncomfortable, heavy on the wrists, and bad fuel injection makes this bike a nightmare GSXR1000K1 Y plate After trying the SP, i get straight on the Gixxer.. the shop has it started for me as i roll up. Sitting on it, straight away it is comfier that the SP, it is an easier riding position and not so heavy on the wrists. With-in seconds this bike feels nicer than the SP2, smoother, better at low speeds and still quite grunty. I take the GSXR on the same route as i did the SP. So i approach the first roundabout, drop a gear, let the throttle have some, this thing is bloody quick. Get the bike upright and i start to give it some... OMG, hold on... the laughter that came from my helmet was loud, i get to the next roundabout and go all the way round it again, this bike handles better that it's little brother the 750. I ride it around like a hooligan, and have lots of fun, i then try the old town riding things again, and it was very tame doing that, was quite happy to do anything, i pull back upto the shop, and walk in with a huge smile on my face that connot and should not be hidden. The only problem is, i would not keep my licence very long at all on the GSXR, it is just way too much fun, and very misleading about what speed your really doing. Good bike, good handling, nice at low speeds, comfy, powerful, sooooo much fun. bad things - my insurance company laughed me off the phone, and it is way too powerful to use on the road, you find yourself doing at least 30mph over what you think your doing. and everyone has a GSXR, so was not even one look of admiration. |

Honda wer supposed to have cured the fuel injection on the SP2 good knows what the SP1 must be like then
TBH they are renowed for having dodgy fuel injection at low speeds Are a nice looking bike though, try what you say about everybody havng GSX-R though
