Default Yea but No.. But Yea.. but 3 Points ..!!

Guess it’s a fear we all bear.. but my look ran out when the blue lights lit up the grill on the front of an unmarked police car yesterday ..

Had been for an enjoyable blast over the top of Devizes (Somerset hills) which is a popular run for bikes as the route contains a number of long straights, sweeping bends with little visual obstructions such as hedges (just the occasional tank..!).

Was heading back home to Bristol on the A36 Warminster to Frome road. This is a wide, fast stretch of road with the occasional double lane stretches to get past those Sunday drivers.
It was here whilst comfortably on the outside lane did I notice the blue Honda revealed it's true identity in the mirrors behind me..

Pulled up in the next lay-by, switched/got off the bike and confronted the smug officer in a polite concerning manner. I was asked to sit in the back of his car and was told I was clocked doing 76mph (in a 60) .. 3 points £60 fine

My views have always been.. if you are prepared to speed, then your prepared to pick up the points if you get caught.
I know I was speeding, but given the road is a wide two lane road and I’m not a nuttier (like the bikes whizzing past us whilst sitting in the car), I thought a warning for doing 16mph over would have been more appropriate..
But some you win some you lose heavily..

Sorry to hear that. Whenever I speed it's in a similar manner to how you described. I always hope undercover police will turn a blind eye, provided you're not going mentally fast/the conditions are right, you're not being a nuisance to other road users, etc. I guess you get some bad apples who take a bit too much pleasure in their jobs

What a

Sorry to hear it mate. I'm the same as you guys that i choose my appropriate speeds with care and go that little faster where its safe for me to do so.

If i ever notice a car keeping pace with me i will change lanes and wave him past. If he's a copper he wont pass you most times....he wants to give you that bloody fine dont he. Most other drivers will happily whizz by if they are waved on.

call me a para-cat if you like.... but i would prefer to keep my license clean.

A warning and a "dont do it again sonny" would have been more than sufficient for 16mph over the limit surley

Oh yeh...hello and welcome to the site btw.

Bad luck mate.

I've got a horrible feeling I have a letter on the way. Was doing a tad over the limit of the a316 and didn't spot the rear facing camera in time. I think I might even have still been in license losing territory.
Hope not.

'fingers crossed'

Good attitude, but I tend to agree this sounds like a slap on the wrist would have been more appropraite!
