Hi everybody....
Two weeks ago, I just got a new shiny 650 S (fantastic, such a difference with the scooters I used to drive wildly in Madrid ) and I've realised that, doesn't matter what I do, there is no way to just keep up with the rest of the morcycles when the traffic light goes green.... I know that I have to do the break in of the engine, so I am taking it easy, but I can't keep with even GS500 and 50cc scooters!!! Any hints on which is the best technique to get the optimun acceleration? I'm trying different approaches, but a little help would be appreciated... ?? Cheers!!! BTW: I'm still wondering what is all that c**p in previous posts about the Dunlops, they are not that bad... |

You might be changing up gears too early. Change up once the revs are nearing the red line. For really quick acceleration, learn to do clutchless up shifts - just dip the throttle quickly and kick the gear up.

4k-8k is where the fun is, so don't disapointed that other bikes are beating you currently. When you have finished the run in period you'll smoke em easy!

You need to be changing up once you've hit 7-8K, above that mark, and all the way to the red line its just reving for the sake of revving, there's no power - if you redline the sv against an sv of same spec in a 0-100 race, when the other sv is being changed up at 7-8k, you would lose! Change up well before the red line. its only on IL4's that the power is delivered in a mad top end rush - ie near the red line. (My CBR400RR = no power below 10k. Then at 10500 it goes mental all the way to the 16000 limiter!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

You still need to ride quite high in the rev range if you want it all. |
