Scottoiler - YES again - sorry - SV650.org

Hey Guys,

just got a scottoiler which I intend fitting this weekend, however I notice from previous posts and manuals etc that scottoiler claim there is a vacuum hole already on the SV650S? I have a K5, anybody found it or does it not exist on a K5?

Yes of course it does

Look to the throttle bodies on top of the cylinder heads. On the rear throttle body, you'll see two black rubber caps (the front will only have one). These are the vacuum points.

Using extra long fingers, remove one of these caps to fit the vacuum tube.

It does exist.

Look though the frame from the left hand side. On the front of the rear cylinder throttle body, you'll see a couple of rubber bungs (about the size of a pea) covering the nozzles.

It's easier to fit from the left, but I could only find a pic from the right

I found it easier from the right, personally.
Important tip, don't do it when the engine has been running recently.

Is there a handy fixing point for the resevoir?

Put the reservoir under the seat, fairly easy to fit. If you don't have an alarm, you could try mounting in under the rear fairing on the right hand side, but you'll have to take the rear fairing off to do that.

Ps, when installing the vacuum line to the engine, make sure you "Mushroom" the end of the plastic vacuum line, or it will fall out of the rubber connector.

i found the easiest place on my k5 was to ty-wrap it to the frame under the pillion seat....makes checking and topping up the oil easy.
I tried installing it "properly" using the bolts and clamps but resorted to the wraps in the end.

Tried using the bracket but it snapped as I was scrweing it into place

So used ty wraps and the clear platic rubber thingies to mount on the frame next to the pillion seat. Took all of about 10 mins to take the fairing off, and about the same to refit (was very surprised at how easy it was). Only issue was the bolt for the bracket breaking and taking 2 hours to remove it...

Personally on my 00 I just put the vacumm tube where Scotoiler suggests - one quick snip and it was done. And this is from someone who has no confidence when working on the bike

I've done about 1000 miles since with no issues...
