I could add a couple of extras there, going along with the more general enlightenment topic rather then a more specific grail-esque agenda. Those seeking enlightenment should start with:
A. J Ayer. - The Problem of Knowledge Bertrand Russell - The Problems of Philosophy Nietzsche - Beyond Good and Evil (for the comedy value you understand) Plato - Republic Milton - Paradise Lost (Shamefully I have never read it) Germain Greer - The Whole Woman Susan Ferrier - Marriage and most importantly Garfield Pocket Book no.2 - Why do you hate mondays? If there is a single facet of human understanding missed in those texts, then piant my **** green and call me bob. |

A bit off the general thread but I've been reading some of my old chidrens
books to the grandkids i.e. 1953 Rupert the bear and its amazing how un P.C.they are. My d-in-law,who is a teacher, said they wouldn't be allowed in schools today How times change and not always for the better |
