I had this the through the whole winter months. I put it down to the cold weather.
But it's warmer now & the bike still only starts with the choke on full & I have to leave it in for about 30 seconds, keeping the revs @ 2500. It just won't start like it used to with just 1/4 turn of the throttle. - when I do that it starts, makes some knocking noise coming from the carbs then idles @1000 rpm & stalls. If I turn the throttle almost nothing happens. I already tried increasing the Idle to 1500 rpm. So once the engine is warm it idles @1500 rpm. Ideas ? ![]() |

Check that all cables are adjusted and lubed correctly, check for the good old sticking choke, check plugs, air filter, carb ballance and other serviceable items that can lead to grumpy engine running characteristics. Some people have claimed that platinum or other high end spark plugs help morning manners....
Sorry for the "shotgun" post, but a few thoughts.

It's not even the morning starts....
I start the bike in the morning)6:00, then at lunch break 11:00 & 12:00 & then at 15:00 again. And I always have to use the choke... |

before this winter, my bike would only need the choke if it wasn;t started for more than a week.

my suggestion would be as above-- give her a birthday.Toss a new set of plugs in her ,a new air filter and give the carbs a bit of a clean out.

Problem solved.
new plugs, (Iridium NGK) cleaned the K&N re oiled & removed the foam under the tank used NOS fulel system clean Adjusted the idle down to 1300 rpm now: Great throttle response. Bike starts without choke again no problems ![]() |
