I have a curvy SVS
Have heard talk about jackup dogbones. Has anyone actually just re-drilled/ovaled the hole in their original dogbone rather than replaced? Would this be enough? How much shorter are jackup dogbones? What is the ratio of dogbone length to rear ride height? Reducing the length of the dogbone I presume means reducing the leverage therefore it looks like a pleasant side effect will be to effectively stiffen the rear!! Its all good, I want some!! ![]() |

Check http://forums.sv650.org/viewtopic.php?t=39141
I wouldn't oval the holes in the originals, the bones taper in the middle so you would end up with less material round the bolts. Anyway it easier to get some steel bar from B&Q (about 6 quid) hack out a length or two and dril four 12mm holes. A 1m bar will give you enough dog bones to play with to keep the whole pound well fed ![]() |

![]() How far should I try to start off with? Any idea how thick the bar is I need (if you know off the top of your head then it will stop me getting all greasy finding out for myself ![]() p.s. had a look at the B&Q website ... can't see any bar on there ... are you sure B&Q do it or generically saying B&Q? |

Nope got mine from teh B&Q warehouse. The site is crap tho, not worth the pixels its written on. Think it was somethign like 6mm, just get the calipers on the existing ones and there is your minimum thickness. Other source might be a blacksmith or metal stockists. I think about 6-8mm gave 2-3 inches. If you raise the back of the bike with a jack cup on the exhaust mount you can take the old ones off, jack it up to the right height and measure centres for the new ones.

Give this guy an email, if this bit is not what you need. But I suspect it will be just right for the job.
