Default no prob with knee down but! update

ok i have searched this but not found the answer.

I have no problem with getting the knee down but i think the way im doing it is wrong. i have seen many other peoples sliders after a couple of knee downs and the wear on them covers almost half the slider now with mine i can only seem to get one corner down (see pic) i was wondering if anybody with good experience can tell me what i might need to do to get more of the slider to contact the tarmac please as this is very annoying. plus some times i miss the slider all together and put my leathers down

You might not be doing anything wrong, you just need to move the slider round (forward??) a bit on the velcro of your leathers to get it more square on with the road when you assume the position

Pic of the slider installed plz

the slider is as far in as it will go so much so that one of the velcro tabs on the slider is hanging off the velcro pad

Ah, ok, so your body position might be a bit off then … describe how you go about kneedown (i.e foot, leg, arm, torso and head positions).

I'd suggest if it's the front edge wearing down then you've spread your legs unneccessarily wide and if its the rear edge of the slider then you've slid around the tank too far, alternatively your leather trousers dont fit properly. Just hazzarding guesses here.

I have/had the same thing, I'm prety certain it's just because my leg's out fairly wide vs. less bike lean. I noticed that the angle of scrape on my sliders went down a lot (closer to flush to the flat of the slider) when I got some peg jackups/rearsets to I could lean further without grounding out the pegs

if you look at the racers on uber-sticky rubber who can lean their bikes waaaaay over, you'll see that they tend to scrape up their sliders at the back because they're sticking their legs out a lot less & making a less acute angle to the tarmac

Yep, seems to me that getting more of the sliders worn is a sign that you're basically reaching to get your knee down, rather than having it come naturally. Mine are worn pretty much like yours, oldsvrider. Though they have extra bits of wear from the time I got my entire body down at Knockhill

Personally, I've always enjoyed passing people who's spending more effort hanging off the bike and sticking their knees out for miles, than they are actually picking speeds and lines for the corners... I've got a photo somewhere on film of two guys at knockhill with practically their entire bodies off the bikes, and the bikes hardly leaning (in the chicane) while I just nip up the inside with both cheeks on teh seat like a policeman
