Default Possible small plate clampdown in London?

Just a warning that my mate got a £40 fine left on his parked bike in a motorcycle bay for having a small licence plate.

I figure if they are doing parked bikes then maybe they're deliberately looking for small plates.

I'm curious now, what form does a "small plate fine" take? i've seen the parking tickets (please pay with in 21 days, if you pay within 7 you can pay half. If you want to contest it, it will take more than 7 days, and you'll have to pay the full price. So just pay up nicely now wont you...), but im curious as to whether you're getting fined by the council (who dont have any right to be enforcing those lawas afaik) or the police (who dont tend to leave a nitice on your bike asking to pay them in the future. If it's not legal they'll tend to stop it going anywhere in a hurry.)
Not disputing what your saying, just wondering...

Mentioned this on another thread: When the rozzers cam to my incident nearly 3 weeks ago now (doesn't time fly), the first thing they did was check my exhaust, then they had a look at my number plate & didn't comment. It's 7*5.5.

This was by Stockwell.

Then that is quite ridiculous to be fined for. Be great if you could find out if it's a fake ticket etc.

Oh, poop. Thats the same size as mine.... erm i mean the one i used to have on my bike Officer

Maybe just some sado copper who had time to kill but the council cant enforce that stuff, their remit is only for parking offences, not general traffic offences... tho if this govt have their way then we'll have these fools doing stuff like this soon.

What is ridiculous? The law states size X is legal and size Y isn't. If it is smaller than X then it is illegal. Surely this is black and white? It's like saying "I only ran him over a little bit!" Poilce "Oh, that's okay then, off you go!"

I think the point is that the Police really should have better things to do - 7x5 is not that small.
