Jerky Throttle Response

Hi All.

I've got a K3 650. Recently the bike has got very jerky on the throttle below 3000 to 4000 RPM. It is proving difficult around town and when cornering. It never used to be like this. I have just done a service and fitted new NGK plugs and cleaned up the leads and plug caps with Powerhouse, (really cool stuff). Anyway this hasn't improved things. When I get a chance I will check the TPS setting. I haven't got a manual yet so I was wondering where the adjustment is for the throttle synchronisation. My guess is this should be adjusted along with the idle speed before the TPS in adjusted. This sort of poor running could also be caused by an air leak inlet side. Has anybody ever experienced throttle bodies coming loose or had failed inlet gaskets?

Any pointer will be greatly appreciated.

The idle speed is really easy to adjust - when you know how too Had it done properly in my service and learnt how to do it just after Wish I'd known 5000 miles ago.

The hardest part is having a security torx bit (unless you get one from one of the excellent members of this here site )
But you only need that to adjust it - you can see how far out it is before you get to that stage.
But I can't emphasise enough how worthwhile it was for me.

The throttle sync adjustment is a screw to the right of the rear throttle body. You also need to check the gap between the linkage arm and stop. Obviously you need a set of vacuum gauges, though the process isn't that complicated. From previous posts, I know you know what you are doing, so just need to have a look in the service manuals on the main site for the exact location of these 2 things. I did mine recently, though haven't looked at the TPS adjustment yet - just correct idle and sync. My K3 had done about 8000 miles when checked/adjusted and wasn't very far out at all, though it did make a difference at lower engine speeds. Hope that helps

Thanks. I didn't know the manuals were on the main site, I'll take a look. The bike seems a lot better after the TPS adjustment.

The TPS is part of the service scedule anyway, servicing isnt just oil changes.

This is more than likely the problem if it hasnt been done to schedule.
