Default Helmet hassle

If any of you go for a long trip away, say a week or 2, what do you do with your helmet if you are away from home on the bike? I.e. do you store it in a top box, carry it round with you all the time? I am off to Europe for 2 weeks next year and am wondering about this as it would be a hassle carrying it everywhere.

If I'm ;eaving mine for any length of time I stick it to the bike using the hooks under the pillion seat. Not ideal but its about as secure as you're gonna get without going along the top box idea.

Or just carry it.

Cheers guys, looks like the pacsafe method might be the best option

I would keep mine locked up in the topbox, but then I'm fortunate to have that luxury...andother option is to get a good peice of short chain, and chain it to the bike

Pacsafe helmetsafe, give flee-bay a try about £40 iirc. Its basically a wired bag with a cord, not the most secure but ok. Also keeps your helmet dry and off the ground which is nice. Because no one can see what hemlets in the bag i think you would have to be unlucky to have someone cut it off, nice light soultion IMO. I have used it in Europe and it worked a treat.

Helmet hooks under the seat, then a bike cover over the bike. I leave mine like this all the time and have never had any trouble.

Fortunate? I'd rather risk my lid being stolen.

On mine, little black tabs welded to the frame, under the pillion seat. Basically, fasten helmet (as if you were wearing it - but you're not), thread the straps under the tabs, put the pillion seat back on. No-one can now walk away with your helmet.

For anyone thinking of doing this, please note, it's easy for someone to slice the straps unless you shorten them (even then, it's still possible). The helmet would be useless because the straps have been cut. But are they after the helmet, or are they after the bike, knowing you can't ride it without a helmet?
