When you say broken, is it working to a certain speed or just not at all?

Primary cause of the speedo not working appears to be the rotor at the front wheel. Take the wheel off, and if lots of bits of brown plastic fall out, you need to buy a new one....

random readings as the rotor disintegrates appear to be quite common. 34983-21E00 is the part number for the rotor (at least on a pointy)
