I take it your running stock springs and not progressive springs?
99-02:
fork oil lvl = 104mm for eu bikes and 102mm for usa imports.
stock oil = 10w
spring free length 314.6mm

my self i run a

well what i run is a 20w oil, 105mm lvl and progressive fork kit from Hyperpro. ( you get oil in the kit )

p.s the oil lvl with with the fork leg fully compressed! and with the spacer, spring seat and spring OUT!
hope this helps :P
