Default Americaaaaa questions

Hey all,

Just been away to America for 2 weeks, bought loads of kit which is mostly half the price it is here) such as my ICON jacket and alpinestars trainer boot things.

Saw loads of SVs there and was wondering if anyone has toured the states and/or hired a harley cause i was thinking of doing it next time, the roads are great.

Also spotted a SV650R at Laguna Seca race circuit in a very tasty red, what is this?

will get pics up if I can unpack soon...

I've hired a Goldwing in America. I did Deals Gap/Tail of the Dragon and the Cherohala Skyway. Tail of the dragon was superb, I want to try it with a middleweight dirt bike next time. Loved it, as did the girlfriend (who wasn't previously that fussed about bikes) the plan is that next time it'll be a month and solely by Goldwing (no car).

Make sure you take the tags off and make them look a bit worn before you bring them back into the country- don't want to make it look like you've bought them out there to our friends in customs.

Actually, with prices as they are, you can get a reasonable amount of kit and still be within your personal import tax allowance.

Which allows for shopping without defrauding the taxman.

Thanks for the tips, but i don't think anyone coming back from the states is under the limit. Will have a look around and see whats about.
Does anyone know of any good bike shops near disney land?

i hired a harley in the states to do route 66 on it was a speed sportster (the littleist one) and it was a hunk of crap. It was so vibey the only way to get over 60mph was to put your feet on the pillions pegs and then after 250 miles i went to take a 90 degree left turn and went 5th -> 4th -> 3rd -> nothing. the bloody thing had been shaking so hard that the gear lever had managed to unscrew itself. If you want to try a harley im sure the bigger ones are a hell of a lot better cause it would be hard to make a bike worse than that sportster

I live across the pond here in South Carolina (right up in the tip towards the mountains...it's nice) and will also be in Florida if you have a bike over here and want to ride. I'll be in the northern part in Jacksonville with a friend of mine who just bought his first bike, '96 bandit. No idea on the shops over here, especially in Orlando, but www.yellowpages.com can be your best friend in this case.

Oh yeah, I'll be there the week of the 1-7 of July.

The believe the limit is £145 - not in the slightest bit reasonable imo.
