I had a bit of a misfire (11kmiles) so took it to a local dealer for carb clean / balance. They charged me $450 and I
thought it ran a bit better but didn't have a chance to ride it much.
3 months later after it sat in a hot garage (in Florida) I wasn't surprised to find it wouldn't start at all - symptom of choke inoperable. On investigating I found the a starter plunger screw had been really butchered by the dealer. I suspect now (since you need to undo that screw to remove carbs) they didn't strip the carbs, just tipped a can of carb cleaner in a rode it about for a while. Ah well..
I was feeling pretty sad about all this when the termite man came to call

- turns out he had 3 SVs and raced a lot. He promptly put his hand over the airbox intake, opened the throttle wide and brmmm. Left me with advice to drain the tank and refill with new gas then run it till old gas was purged. I've done this now but it won't idle at all, won't start with the choke control and won't run smoothly at steady speeds. However, it pulls like a champ - very smooth accelerations, tons of power...
Any suggestions please? (I guess I should see if the Termite man can come and check for more termites

)
