I've just downloaded firefox and installed. Something is not quite right.
When I clicked on an emailed link before, it opened that link in the current open explorer window. Now though, it keeps opening a new tab. I've looked it the options in firefox but can't find the option to open the link in the current window. It only gives me the option of a new window or a new tab. Can anyone help ![]() |

Go into the options and then click on the 'TABS' tab (second one) and there first thing is 'New Windows should be opened in' with the option of a new window or new tab.
Default is to open in a new tab, which I prefer. You can change this by selecting 'New Window' |

Cheers but I don't want either of those options.
I want to be able to click the link in the email and for the page that I was currently viewing to change to the new link. There does not seem to be that option. |

i guess its because it kinda defeats the whole idea of having "tabbed browsing".
try Opera Si, its really smootha nd easy to use and i think you have that option available. you have a shed load of options but i aint gonna sit here and go thru them all till i find it ![]() hth

Hmmm
Firefox is supposed to be more secure than Explorer but already I find that cookies are either on or off. With no way of selecting individual sites as and when you get to them. How does Opera compare security wise ![]() |

imho much better than both. You have the option to block all popups or set sites that you will except popups from etc etc.
Try it mate, ive been using it for the last 5/4yrs and i love it. Its also got really usefull "mouse actions" basically you can browse pages just by moving your mouse a certain way, you can open/close pages like that or minimise it all etc. Its so flexible in that way i probly only use 20-30% of its abilities. Download it and have a play http://www.opera.com/ the new speed dial thing is pretty handy too.

I'll give it a try. I've already noticed that firefox is slower than IE. I was led to believe it was supposed to faster.

yeh i tried firefox for a while and found it slow too. the only good thing i found about it was a Futurama skin that someone had designed for it. Even that novelty wore off pretty quickly and i like Futurama a lot. lol

Well I am now using Opera. Still can't find the option for each new click of a link in emails to use the current open window though.

Tools/prefrences/advanced tab/select tabs from left menu/tick box "allow windows with no tabs"
but if you say its from an email then maybe you can try the email clients settings???
