Default Scottoiler

After my last thread about loobman and you guys recommending just spending that xmas bonus on a scottoiler... I have!

Bought it from M&P and it came with the dual headed applicator for free.

Spent most of tonight fitting it, will hopefully have it finished off tomorrow evening (I'm juggling between doing my house in the day, and my bike in the evenings)

If anyone could point me as to where I should be attaching the breather, it would be a great help - I normally stick to electrics, this is probably the first attempt at anything mechanical with the engine in mind!

Plus, when I'm done, I'll post up a guide and pics for anyone else whose interested in a more updated version of whats currently on the website - mines completely hidden and you can only see a peice of pipe behind the LH rearset.

Look forward to showing you guys the outcome! Hopefully I wont bodge it!

IMO, don't bother with it.

What breather are you meaning? The one attatched to the clear, side part of the RMV or the one at the very top?

The side one (the actual breather) just needs a bit of tube on it up out of the way somewhere above the rest of the RMV.
The top one needs to be attatched into a vacuum line somewhere, either on the back carb where the line attatches to the fuel valve, or to the front carbs vacuum spigot.

+1 Well wear, you won't regret it. The time saved not manually lubing the chain will offset 10X whatever time it takes to install the scottoiler.

You can also cut into the vacuum line at the fuel tap (on curvys, dunno about pointys).

(I'm also guessing you don't mean the breather vent that attaches to the reservoir at the refilling point, and are talking about the vacuum actuation connection out the top of the reservoir that gets fed from the bike's vacuum system.)

Yer I actually meant the vacuum wotsit... like you say theres nothing that needs to be done to the breather other than attach it!!

Does it matter which way the breather points? I am thinking of pointing it downwards behind the frame.

Mines a nuddy pointy - I have downloaded the manual from this site, so may take a look at the diagrams on that.

In the mean time tho... no riding for me - the bikes in peices since I decided to dismantle it to have a good look at where to put it!!

Which regards to dual applicator - too late, already attached it, but it was free so may as well use it! Unfortunately I wont be able to make any comparison to a single sided applicator as I have never had a scottoiler before!

In my experience the dual outlet thingies are always a pain in the bum, I usually flog them on ands stick a single outlet on - never had any problems with lubing both sides or reliability.

I have a naked pointy with a Scottoiler, I'll be down in the garage photographing stuff to go one fleabay and I'll take some of the installation I have for you.

Heya there. Although only a newbie I have also added this to a pointy. The RMV is mounted on the metal bracket under the rear seat. Easy to fix. It does interfere with the fuse box a little, but with a small amount of playing can get both to sit correctly. As for the vacuum, my bike had a spare vacuum connector on the right hand side, this meant just attaching part number four to it and sorted, with the tube running along the frame under the seat.

I am thinking of putting my RMV in exactly the same place... I am umming and ahhing at whether to put it on the outside of the chassis because there is plenty of room between the chassis and the fairing.

Could you point out where the spare vacuum connector is? I have absolutely no idea where to look
EDIT: Just took a look and it literally was as easy as that!! Theres a spare vacuum connector on both the front and back cylinder - used the rear one as it was easier to access without removing the air box

Cheers!

I seem to be quoting these guys far too often:
http://www.mandp.co.uk/productInfo.aspx?catRef=901867

Thats the Version 7 Scottoiler with free dual injector - may as well buy that one since its no cheaper without the dual injector!

Besides, if you take these guys words... just flog the dual injector on ebay and save a little bit more cash!

I've almost got it completely fitted now - I am gonna tap the dual injector fitting kit into the swingarm - dont want any unsightly tight grips spoiling the looks of my bike!

the site says "M&P Sale Price" £69. is this actually with some discount or are they usually about that sort of price?
