By IT do you mean all that PC/email/spreadsheet stuff or real stuff like ATM's / insurance systems / banking systems (which is data processing to this old dinosaur)

I am employed in IT, (Project Management, but still do some code cutting because I still can). I have never in my life been any support to lusers.
I used to hate it when I would be asked for assistance and would answer I don't know. They would reply but you are the IT manager. Yes and never used excel,word etc. I have a PA for that. Then the stock answer for the luser RTFRMA. Read the manual, read the manual again read the effing manual read the effing manual again read the effing relevant manual read the effing relevant manual again
