I'm thinking of investing in a K&N air filter rather than replacing with a standard OE one.
I currently run a Scorpian round can - road legal - except the baffle always seems to drop out just as I wheel it out of the garage! My query is: will running a free flowing filter and having the baffle out cause any fueling issues on my K3? Also, when sorting out my insurance a couple of months ago they queried whether I was running a free flow air filter (which I wasn't at the time) -would you declare it as a mod should I decide to get a K&N? |

I reccomend BMC and so do JHS racing ( SV specialist).... its part of your servicing and maintanance so i personally wouldnt declare it.... I wouldnt declare changing my spark plugs and brake pads etc lol!!
You would need to have it rejetted for a free flow filter most probablyto illiminate fuelling issues but it should get you better mpg and we could all do with that atm. Ash |

Cheers for that Ash,
I hadn't thought about BMC - guess they are as good as K&N from what you are saying. As my bike is the fuel injected version would I not be correct in saying it should sort the fueling out itself through it's magical electronic wizardry ECU thingy? ![]() |

Sort of, its a very smart ECU its just that Suzuki activated the dimmer switch in it! Should be ok to just drop in a filter, if you are running with just a slip-on can then I would advise on going for a Road fitment and not any of the aftermarket companies Race fitment. |

K & N are good but for the SV BMC is a much better filter than the K & N IMO.

However for you 'sparkymarky' I would recommend the Road filter, its a little more free flowing than OEM and is fully servicable. Last edited by Dangerous Dave; 24-06-08 at 05:23 PM. |

Cheers for the advice guys - looks like a BMC road filter should do the trick as I'm really just looking for the servicing/longevity advantages it will give rather than extra performance, although if it gives a few more mpg and a tincey wincey bit more umph then that's an added bonus.
