Default basic tools

with the break down guy having to come today to start my bike, i noticed that i don't have the basic tool kit that is meant to come with bike. therefore - can someone please recommend me a small tool kit (also cheapish) that would allow me to do the basics on the bike. i haven't even got a good allen key set as misses lost(tidyed) them.

thanks

Which bike do you have ?

If its a pointy you may have overlooked the toolbox.

Mind you the contents if it IS there are pretty bad and worth changing if you can, but it does let you know what the manufacturer intended you to have,

You need basic metric spanners to suit the bike(10-14mm and a couple of bigger ones)Allen keys screwdrivers and most important the OE plug spanner.
For at home you need a bit more stuff.

The standard tool kit is just a set of patterns for "if you wanted to do anything useful, you'd need something this shape..."

Plug spanner is handy but I'm, not sure why everyone raves about them, a normal 16mm 1/2" drive plug wrench does the job just fine.

are there any cheap tool sets that would have these things all in that you would recommend? or is it a case of buying them in bits.

nothing major but i have no tools what so ever. i need some sort of allen key set for battery access, spanners to do thing like chain adjustment and adjustin clutch cable play. i have very limited ability but need small tool kit to address things like this. will be fitting crash bung next month so tools for that.

A basic set of allen keys, screwdrivers, hammer, and a socket set. The cheap ones are mostly mince though, you get what you pay for.
