Do you have a race can too? As if it is the race filter you might find is messes up your fueling and the bike might start backfiring more. In which case your need to get the bike tuned in to match up with the filter and the race can.
I never bothered with the whole filter change as even putting spacers on the tank to allow more air flow I found screwed up my fueling.

when i bought it though the chap selling it said it was a road filter....

but looking at the box its not road or race....its the special RS one that Dangerous Dave mentioned in a different thread...

That will tell you were the problem is, it won't solve it. You will most likely need to rejet to suit the BMC.

Oh... yes the are great filters and as Chris said you will never need to buy another again.

Which filter did you get, Road, Race, or the special RS?"

so i may wait and speak with DD when hes back with us....hopefully not too long...(for his sake not me and my filters sake!!!)

might give JHS a cal they not too far away

Well its only a quick job to put it in and test...

Front seat off, lift tank and use the tank prop under the rear seat to hold it up.
4 screws hold the filter in, swap, drop tank down again and give the bike a run.

You should hear a clear 'induction' noise and maybe some more popping from the can if its the special RS model.

I'd bang some bigger jets in. I've just put 152.5 Mikunis in mine and it runs a treat. Did Cadwell on Monday. The jets are 2 for £5 on ebay 70p delivery. I got some 160s too just incase as they are so cheap. It took me 30 mins to swop 'em.

ps. if you find it is the 'open top' race or rs and you don't want it I'll take it off your hands no problem. Youcan tell as the road has a 45mm inlet hole, the rs and race have an 'open top' where the hole is an ovel shape and as big as possible. Right back to the mesh.

Put some 152.5 mikuni jets in you'll be fine. If your plugs look a little anemic after 50 miles go up to mikuni 160s. It'll cost a total of £10 in parts. Don't bother with dynojet jets. I got mine from here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MIKUNI-Brass-M...d=p3286.c0.m14
