Don`t bother , the SV has very little Retarding on it , unless you count me on a bike

Is this an old post just copied and pasted?
![]() Yes they eliminate the Timing Retard but some people contest that the real world benefits are negligible. Also you can do it for free using nothing more than a small screwdriver and tweezers or a pair of snips. If you do a search for TRE it will lead you to a good step by step guide to getting the same effect for nothing. I have done it myself but haven't noticed a marked difference in performance but like the knowledge of knowing each gear is being fuelled properly

Has anyone actually tested it in an empirical fashion? Most folk say it's not worth doing, but some seem to swear by it.

One fella on a previous TRE do they work post actually dyno tested an SV650 with and without the mod and test revealed that it made no difference whatsoever.

It wouldn't suprise me if it were zadar... and no... the TRE's make such a small difference it isn't really a performance item, certainly not worth the money the pre-built TRE's are sold for.

It`s a perception thing , people swear it makes a difference as they tear open the throttle to "test" it , in reality , it makes little to no difference , save the money and spend 30 quid on a useful item like an oil rad guard or Fenda Extenda

Or even do it... but for f###s sake do it properly with a resistor worth about 6p for the same effect...

you can do it for free ( i have on mine) cut the wires coming out of the gear possition indicator. only the green and red, the others are for the nuetral light. Then the bike doesn't know what gear it's in and therefore cant retard the timing in 2nd and 3rd.
see http://www.sv650.org/ig_retard/ignition_mod.htm |
