Default Battery questions

My bike lives outside and because of no use for a fortnight/ cold, the battery is flat. Whirrs so not completely dead.

The previous owner let it go totally flat - if I jump it (cant trickle as live in upstairs flat so have no power point) will this be a constant problem? Should I buy a new battery?

This happened on my old FZ6 and it was fine after bumping it.

Car or bike batteries don't much like being totally discharged. If it happens too often, it won't hold charge anymore and you'll need a new battery.

If you're not using the bike just take the battery out and put it on charge in the flat. It's only a few bolts to get it out

Batteries can supply normal looking voltage with no load. But as soon as you crank it, that voltage will drop significantly. Open circuit voltage alone is a bad indicator of battery condition.

Thought that alright. Think it dropped to 10 or 11 ish under starting load, but gave up the ghost after the 4th try. Would 4 freezing days and nights really knock a bit of stuffing out of a battery?

Will a higher cca battery have any adverse effects?

If thre FI system spins up then you can bump start, as I have done to my bike several times. The best thing to do is, bump start it, then take it for a ride that will be far the best way of charging of it. Then if your not using the bike for a while, as above charge inside. Do you have an alarm on the bike? That reminds me I should put mine on charge.
