We bought three 6400's as company laptops less than 18 months ago.
So far we've had 5!! Power leads fail and now two of the laptops are saying the batteries have reached the end of their useable life! And they only cost £138 for a new one! The Silver finish has worn off two of them where you fingers rest using the mousepad and all of them has lost their rubber feet. Utter Junk. I got 7 years out of my previous Acer without a mark on it. Carl |

I've had inspiron 1300 3 years and it's still alright except for a dead battery, spacebar and touchpad are now shiny but it has had a lot of use.

Can't vouch for inspiron's but the 800+ dell latitudes we have at work don't have many issues at all compared to other laptops we've had.
The batteries dying after a year or so is normal if people don't look after them, ie full charging and discharging, if you constantly use the laptop on mains with the battery in then yes they'll die quickly. Thats why they only warranty them for a year just like every other manufacturer Now if you want bad laptops, buy a fujitsu, we have about 100odd completely knackered ones at work Ibm's are always good but I wouldn't knock Dell at all from my own experiences |

I have a Dell latitde D630 I'm typing this on at the moment for work. Keys are a little clanky and the touch pad is awful, finish on the outside is giving up to.
