Default Lower Fairing Removal

Exactly how hard is it to remove the lower fairings on a K6? Is it as easy as it looks - basically remove all the visible bolts? The only bit I can see a problem with is where each side is held together at the bottom. Any info much appreciated.

The bottom bit is the nightmare. I hate those stupid plastic things. If you have the bike raised on paddock stands and something soft underneath, it is possible to keep the two halfs together and slide them out one side. There should be 3 bolts on each side plus the big round plastic bit in the middle of the fairing.

Swop the three stupid fixings at the bottom of the fairing for plastic number plate nuts and bolts. They are more than strong enough to cope and make fairing removal so much easier. I had a spare GSXR1000 plastic fairing fastener left over from when I sold my Gixer, so I used that on the forward facing one on front, but a number plate bolt would have worked fine.

As stated there is enough clearance for you to slide the fairing underneath without having to separate the two sides. Just put a blanket or something soft underneath until you get used to doing it.

How exactly do you remove those daft plastic bolts at the bottom of the fairing? Do they just pull apart? My fairing lowers buzz annoyingly and I need to get something wedged between the two halves.

They're annoying those things. Get a screwdriver or something and push on the centre of the bolt from inside the fairing. It "should" push through, then the whole bolt will pull out. It's tricky though
