Default redex?

Just a quick question, is redex a good idea or not? My bike seems to tickover quite high 2000 revs or so but after a small burst of revs it settles down to about 1200.

Try Silkolene Pro FST. Does a cracking job.

Not sure what to say about the revs though- is your choke in good condition? (cable and plungers).

I think they're ok, as in I don't know but they look fine and seem to work, its just that the bike sat in the garage over the winter before I managed to get it MOT'ed and thought it would probably need a clean but not overly confident approaching the carbs.

The bike should idle, with no choke, at maybe 1000 rpm cold then up to whatever idle its set at when warm. Full choke should take the revs to 2700-3000 rpm on a cold start.

Anyway, try V-power in your curvy, or 150ml of Silkolene PRO FST per tankfull to clean the carbs through.

Thanks I'll try that and see if she runs nicer, got redex for the car but was a bit worried about the car having a cat in it so I haven't used it but will try the proper stuff for the bike. Oh on a side note I know the name sookie is a bit puffy ( I am a male of the species )but it's what my little peeps call the bike.

The redex should be fine in the car; or other similar fuel system cleaners. Its generally very dilute once you add it to a full tank of petrol

How long did it stay in the garage for?

It sat in the garage for about 3/4 months, I used to start it up and let it run a bit but never taken out for a run.

Idle sitting high does not sound like crap in the carbs. Sounds more like the choke assemblies.
