Default Replacing the Daytona.

I have much time to contemplate these days, life, poetry, the like

My thoughts turned to riding, and questioning the use of the Daytona on the road, it's sublime - the engine is perfect, the chassis is light, flickable if a little heavily sprung, the riding position is fine for me, but something bothers me, mostly that if you hit the redline in 2nd you're doing 100mph. I can't help but think it's pretty OTT, and would feel so much better utilised on a track

Absently mindedly browsing biketrader, with nothing other than a 100 mile travel limit and prices between 4-6 grand the only thing that stuck out was a smattering of RSV-Rs, but a quick trip to confused.com to get no quotes the right side of £1000 put an end to that idea

For some reason the big twins keep cropping up, and the Superduke came to mind, insurance quotes are good, £300 good, cheaper than the 675, I've always had a strange fascination with the "so ugly it's beautiful" looks, but don't know how well a naked bike would work out when touring, which is what i'd like to do

So, oh mighty org, what haven't I considered, do I buy a superduke and enjoy a naked life? Do i buy a VFR and cross europe, what about a KTM Adventure and do a "long way round the island" - or use the funds to track the 675, buy a van and a bunch of trackdays and give up riding on the road???

Superduke. Naked is fine long distance, you don't need a load of tupperware to cower behind away from a little breeze. Proper handlebars make chucking it about through corners a right laugh.
(Never ridden a superduke, but have ridden quite a few 'fighters and they're all far more fun than the sportsbikes they based on)

Buy a VFR400 or another 400 that still can give you fun and possibly give you more chance of keeping your licence

Then use the change to sort you out for Trackdays

EDIT: But yeah the Superdukes, they are fit.

Get a Superduke, then tell me how ace it is 'cos I really fancy one to be honest. I agree with the "so ugly" idea, just like English Bull Terriers, I think they are cool dogs.

I agree completly. I really like the idea of the little VFR (im contemplating one for a track bike), you can thrash it and it is still not going "too fast" but feels fast. Happy days, oh and im pretty sure with suspension set-up it will go around a bend better than a lot of bikes!

The super duke is meant to be a great bike. Its a twin so natually im a fan.

i quite like the idea of the old 1996-99 ZX-7Rs, perhaps an older sportsbike, but then the repair costs of another drop would probably make it expensive

that pic makes me think, what about a road/track superduke...

**looks into the middle distance**

Yea, sounds very very good does the little VFR400, only really heard one in person though So they are pretty rare it seems which is a good thing in some sense, youll get some attention because of it.

Why dont Honda make a V4 600? Man that would be sex on a stick. Even id be tempted
