I'm finding my eye turned by the new bike deals on sites like George Whites where they are pushing the 0% deals plus a ton of extra kit (cans, screen alarms etc).
Something tells me i'd be stupid to buy new but i dont know? 0% is very tempting (would have to get a loan otherwise to make up the shortfall) and looks like the price of used bikes is right up. Has anyone bought a new bike and regretted it/glad they did? Also anyone know where the best deals are at the moment? Looking for Gixxer 750. Basically heart says go for it, head says don't be stupid. |

I bought a new ZX6r. Don't like it enough to keep it and just traded it in. Got more than the outstanding tick back so i'm not bothered. Are you going to a Gixer 750 from an SV?

I essentially bought new. (Pre Reg)
Would I do it again? Yes probably for the right bike. I dont think its stupid at all, you know the history, you get to have something from new which is always nice, you know its not been ragged from cold or dropped, you get a warranty. For the extra it cost I think it gives peace of mind.

I don't think bikes dump that much cash on 0%
But my V-strom is going to sink like a stone so I will lose money on it if i trade in the first 18 months or so. TBH if you've found a deal on one just go for it. If i ever get another supersports it will be a Gixxer 750 |

I bought my GSXR 750 new.
I've never regretted it, I know every inch of history, every little scratch on it reminds me of a bike trip or a ride that I've done. I know its been serviced as I want it and I know its history. 20,000 trouble free miles later and I'm still not regretting it. I didnt buy it as an investment or be worried about depreciation etc etc. I know its lost alot of money but TBH I dont care.

If you're going to keep it for around 2 years or more, then it'd be a good idea. If you chop and change bikes every 6 months it's not really worth it.

Yes, test rode the 600 but engine wasn't for me. I really liked the look/ergonomics though. Have not rode the 750 yet but all the reviews i've seen say the bottom end torque should be substantially better. Basically the 600 wasn't 'bad' by any means but a bit too revvy and whizzy for my riding style. Would like to try a Blade but too expensive really.
Hmmm, lots of positives on the buying new front - expected lots of 'don't do it!' answers but appears the depreciation may not be such an issue, and its a bike i plan to keep for a while. Had also looked at the new CB1000R which i liked very much and found the ride position great. Doesn't look as good as the Gixxer though! The fact its also not had anyone else's mucky mitts on it or tat bolted to it is also a big plus. |

Just buy it mate. Supersports are amazing (although too small for me unfortunately to have as my only bike) and you'll enjoy it. Just watch yourself as 2nd gear flat out is a ban

I have bought 2 bikes brand new, kept one for just on the 3 years with no regrets and the sv is now just over 4 years old and again no regrets.
The suzuki 0% was a good deal in 95 and imho still a good deal now. The one thing in my mind that likes New is that I know EVERYTHING that has happened to the bike, no ugly surprises left by a previous owner, just peace of mind. |
