Default First motorway ride today

Went out this morning to do a quote 30 miles away on the motorway for the first time, being a car driver of 20years + it wasnt a nervous shock or anything but what did suprise me was the wind.
I left the house and it didnt seem windy at all but on the motorway it was terrible.
Not resistance wind from going fast but side winds, very difficult to stay in a straight line, didnt go over 80 mph as it was a bit un nerving.
I did try to lay down a bit to reduce the wind resistance and it helped a little.
No point to this, just sharing another episode of my riding.

i found the same thing on my first motorway ride. Some days its mega windy along the m4 around by me. All i ever do is try to tuck down a bit more and just blast through it. There is a bit of movement depending on the gusts but sometimes you can tell their coming like when theres a break in the trees along the motorway. I tend to just lean into the side wind a bit and its all ok

Stay loose on the bike works for me and be prepared for the big blast as you come out from behind a juggernaut.

Good plan

At motorway speeds you can cause permanent hearing damage after only a quarter of an hour

I prefer to ride with plugs at all times now, much more focussed

Also, my lazer lid is not the best for wind noise i think, definite upgrade in the near future.
Are there any lids you know that are well known for less wind noise?

Wish my ear cavitys weren't of alien proportions...earplugs just jump out my ears.

schuberth are meant to be good, but tbh a good set of foam plugs would be more than adequate, better still would be a custom moulded set, not cheap but mine are fantastic and much quieter then foam jobs
