Default Computer Hardware Peeps, Recommend Some RAM.

Right I built my system about 2 years and put in a ASUS P5N32-E SLI motherboard with 2GB of this RAM: http://www.ocztechnology.com/product...n_dual_channel

Well yesterday I had a number of freezing and crashing problems which I first put down to heat. Then it got to a point of crashing at boot up and then it got to a stage where it wouldn't even launch the boot process. In my mind if it fails there it can only be 2 things, the BIOS chip or RAM and lucky for me it was the RAM.

I took 1 stick out and it worked fine, put it back in and it wouldn't load. Put the duff one in a different slot and once again the computer crashed before loading the BIOS.

I wanted to upgrade the RAM anyway so I'm in the market for 4GB of cheap and cheerful RAM.
I don't play games all that often and I don't do the whole overclocking scene so my current RAM is overkill really. But I do alot of video editing if that makes a difference.

So suggestions are very welcome.

I've got 2x1GB used sticks of Geil Orange RAM PC2 6400 DDR2-800 CL=4-4-4-12 sitting here if you want it.

It was in my server PC to test and works fine.

£10 inc P&P?

RAM RAM and more RAM... It's so cheap I'd get 8GB... I did and vista runs beautifully along with anything I can throw at it...

I thought processing played a bigger role in editing? Or I may mean when you encode and export it do a level of quality.

In that case if you're to get more RAM you'll want it all at the same speed, so you don't have faster RAM having to run at speeds of slower RAM for example.

Thanks alot for the offer but 2GB is about boarder line when it comes to Vista. At the moment Vista sucks up 1GB alone then you add video editing on top, 2GB soon gets very bottlenecked hence why I'm after 4GB. But thanks again for the offer.

To be honest I'm meant to be getting a car, insurance and whatever else so money is a bit short so 4GB will do for now.

Just to make it clear, I'm not after buying more RAM to go with my existing stuff, I'm after a whole new set.

That's some pretty high spec ram you have there! Are you sure you need it to be that fast? As an example, i'm running a Q6600 overclocked to 3.4Ghz and I only need 800mhz ram to run synchronously.
If your quad pumped CPU is running at 1333mhz, you only need RAM running at half that (as its DDR) to run synchronously.
If this is the case i'd get some ebuyer value stuff it's pretty cheap and should do what you need it do.

Lets just say I went for bragging rights rather then practicality when building it. The other specs:

Intel C2D E6600
BFG Geforce 8800GTS (640MB I think)
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty Edition
All encased in a Artec Nine Hundred case.

A couple of years ago this was good but not any more in seems.
