ok, just got my new fuel, fitting now, about to start the cutting :s
BUT flicking through the instructions it says "put small amount of sealant in inlet pipe"... doesn't say what type of sealant etc so... will silicone do? is it heat resistant? or if not, what should i use??? is it necessary?! cheers!! |

if that bothered, gun gum is the exhaust sealant. You'll be in the minority who use it though.

I was told that the best way to put sealant on is to heat the end of the open pipe (the bit you've cut to fit the new slip-on link pipe over), then wet it. Then apply the sealant.
This way, it creates a seal on the end of the pipe and expands before you fit the link pipe over. I found when I used firegum without doing this that it just all expanded and came out of the gaps in the end of the link pipe assembly, so didn't really make much of a seal... |

Good evening all.
Believe it or not bathroom RTV type sealant is pretty good on exhaust can joints, & it's cheap too! Just a thin smear is all you need. Cheers. |

all 4 of my fuel exhausts have nothing sealing them at all - machining is so good its a friction fit
