Motosliders are the crash bungs to get, which ever model SV you have. The are cheaper (even when shipped from the US), the do not have a design flaw, and there are no stories of Motosliders failing (unlike its UK rivals).

A crash bung will not stop all damage, but 90% of accidents I would say that a decent crash bung had kept the repair costs down and possibly saved a few write offs.

Cool. Just ordered some there. Discovered i was minus a right side bung yesterday
Those ****ty ones that bolt in different spots either side, not through the engine like the motosliders. kinda glad cos my shin would smack the right one occasionally as it was further back nd leave a nice little bruise.

Any that bolt to either the front or rear cylinder mounts are useless, they don't stick out far enough and are attached with a skinny bolt...

Yep, their probably the ones. Funny, cos the bike has been down on both sides (naked mind you) and neither time did the bungs take any real visible impact. Pegs/bars/exhaust got it all. Too short as you say.
