Hi Guys,
I'm working to repair a crash damaged '05 SV650 naked, the tank has been removed because of damage. The connector for the fuel pump is a brown four prong, the replacement fuel pump has a white three prong plug. What does the extra green and black wire do? If I join the same color wires together what do I do with the extra green one? Why do they have different wiring - which is not shown in the Haynes manual? I know that is a lot of questions but you guys know your stuff right? Cheers ![]() |

Thanks for the quick reply guys.
Yes it looks like that light green and black wire goes to the speedo for a fuel light. You are also right about the 4 pin plug being from a black frame. If I had known in advance I would have bought a fuel pump with the brown 4 prong connector. The P.O. cut off the wires on the female side of the brown connector, so I'll probably splice the wires from the 3 pin plug into those. That way I wont cut the wiring loom at all and if later I feel the need for the fuel light to work buy another fuel pump with the 4 pin connector. Parts for these bikes are cheap here on Ebay (US) compared to new Suzuki parts, I can't believe the new prices for some of the electrical sensors. Last edited by MotoMartin; 12-12-09 at 08:09 PM. |

I have both sides of the brown 4 prong connector (male and female), the PO cut the wires before the connector end. So I will have a connector to unplug for easy removal of the tank....I will cut off the three prong connector from the fuel pump...no cutting of the wiring loom.
