No I dont mean bent over on all fours, I do mean the bike is running like a dog.
I've come back off my jollies and been reminded of a problem that was starting to show its face just before I left. The bike is running very much like its bogged down, it occasionally smells of petrol and even more occasionally runs only on one cylinder. I know the exhaust is blowing and seems to be leaking from the front cycliner header pipe. Basically who's had similar issues - and what did you do about it? Anyone have any pointers/things they can suggest that I should look into. Bike was pretty un-ridable this morning and bloody embarrasing at times. |

Plungers were my first idea too, I experimented by rotating the switch to on and it really cut down further and then when turned back to the off position power picked bak up again.
It will still be my first little tinker this evening as will the snorkle valves thingys which came loose last time and caused some MASSIVE BANG AND POPS. Dunno which plug it is which is fouling, and its not wet its been stored inside for the last week. OH FORGOT TO ADD, IT SEEMS TO RUN FINE WHEN COLD IT WORSENS AS IT HEATS UP, ITS ABOUT 5MIN IN TO THE JOURNEY BEFORE IT STARTS TAKING EFFECT. |

have some brass springs that might fit in there which shouldn't corrode as much.
Well documented on here how to clean/regrease the plungers and cable.

Plunger clean complete, decided to go whole hog and took the carbs off gave them a good spray soak and rub down. then re-oiled/greased the lot inc throttle cables and mech then bumbled it all back together.
TOok it for a little spin to pop some fuel in and BLOODY HELL it doesnt half seem a lot pokeier than it was before hand. I know its frosty (an i wa been a bit of a tool) but when testing the throlltle responce/pick up I first stood the front up and on second attempt span the back out then stopped before I made a dent in myself. will find out in the morning if it was the plungers or if its simply a bit of carb icing. |
