Default Squaring tyres.

Hi Guys,

I'm running on Maxxis tyres since passing in August 09, so far i think i've knocked up around 3k on them. I noticed last night that the tyre is becoming flat in the centre and i'm fully aware that this is due to not leaning enough, though i am beginning to get there slowly,(very) .

The tyre isn't as square as i was when i replaced them, but can i / will i manage to bring it back and if not, when should i start thinking of a replacement, unsure how square it can be before i start to have issues with grip.

Rob.

Could be due to a boring straightline commute too. Run it until it wears out/ feels too disgusting - then change it imo.

As Sosha says, so long as you aren't being bothered by it, and the tread is still legal then leave em IMO. I have some very square tyres on my ZZR and Deauville due to mostly motorway riding, but I still feel perfectly happy cranking it over when I do get to ride some nice bends.

If it is bothering you when you feel the transition from the flat to the curved bit of the tyre then change them, especially if you are new to biking as it can be a bit un-nerving if you don't know what is causing it.

peeps should get tyres that suit there ride , i found this problem with me bandit 12 and me sv both came with fairly sporty tyre on which were great to begin with but already starting to square off , which can ruin confidence / feeling when i got em i do big rides out not short blasts out , go for something more durable i.e sports Touring's like bt 023's or road smarts or metzler m6 if your unsure which category a tyre falls in have a look here - remember some peeps just want to go oh year iv got bsb spec hoops great in middle of summer on a track day pile of crap in April in 10 deg c with no tyre warmers at 07.00 going to work...

on cold roads and tyres i dont lean much and the rear is starting to square off, and when i get a warm dry day i crank it over a bit but not as much as i would like, if your more comfortable lean off the bike more than leaning the bike over.
