My sussy's seem too hard. Slightest bump in the road and i'm being bounced out of my seat. I weigh in just below 10st.
I would like to soften the suspension ever so slightly, just so my bum stays in contact with the seat! Obviously getting fed up of bum twitchy moments round bends on these fabulous british roads. Can anyone advise what i need to do to acheive / try this? I believe the sussys to be set up as standard at present Any help appreciated. Cheers |

at standard the suspension should be fine for your weight, but it might have harder springs in the front, but unlikely the rear has been changed (unless the shock has been changed)
what year bike ? |

Wow. First time I've seen a thread like this!! Suspension too hard on SV!!
You shouldn't be bumped out of your seat unless you are hitting speed bumps at 60mph round bends. Assume you are saying that it's just the rear that is too hard? If you preload is on the standard setting then I'd say back it down a couple of clicks but even weighing 10st I don't think it should/would bounce you out of your seat, maybe there is something wrong with your shock?

What on earth makes you say that? Just a complete guess.
To the OP - what year / model bike? How many miles? Did you buy new or second hand? Has anything been changed on the bike to your knowledge? |

I'm a similar weight to you, and to be honest the best cure is to ditch the rear shock.
I've got a Hagon on the back now, and where I used to find my **** around my ears, its now under control. Standard shock has next to no damping, so when the spring unloads it upwards, you follow suit. There isn't much you can do to the standard shock apart from adjust the pre load on the spring Get some Hagon springs or emulators for the front end and it improves the Sv considerably

As I am of same weight to yourself, I can say if you are being bounced in the seat it sounds like the rear is foobarred. I've had two standard shocks behave like this when they are past their best. One was replaced with a newer standard one, the other replaced with a Hagon, both have been cured
And yes, model and year would help.

I have tried this method, unfortunately my genetic profile means I'm stuck around 10st
