Hi Guys,
I could use some advice please as My SV650S K9 which is the Blue with White stripes. This means the bike has mat Black frame so when the engine gets hot runs at 103 (which Suzuki say this is normal) the frame gets red hot. This has now become an issue as when I wear my Draggin Jeans my knees burn. Today has been unbearable, I love my bike but the frame is so hot you can not touch it with bear hands. I know the frame will get hot because of the fairings and the engine is bolted to the frame. I am having to ride with my knees stuck out not to touch the frame. I have looked on Busters website and others to see if there is something for this but I can't find anything. Please help me. from a very HOT Debs ![]() |

You need to go faster so the airflow cools the bike

Usually above 100 the fan kicks in
I had the same bike SK9 in Blue with stripe and never had such issues Bike normal operating temps was between 74 and 80 ish if cruising. In stop start traffic it can go above 100 but then then fan kicks in. Never experienced red hot frame. Stupid question: is the sun heating the frame up, black obviously absorbing heat and that??

Yes the sun does warm it but it is actually whilst riding is gets hotter I know that sounds crazy. The fan does kick in in traffic but suzuki told me these bikes run at normal 100-106 in traffic. I wish I could say yes it is the sun but the instructors at the school where I took my test, could not believe the temp when I stopped they couldn't touch the frame at all.
Faster is great but if I am in traffic it is bloody hot and before anyone thinks it I am not a wimp. Cheers Debs |

![]() Seriously though, if your water temperature is OK there's very little that could be heating the frame beyond the that of any given SV, not taking the mick but bikes get hot, there's nowhere to hide the engine away from the rider and it's just something we get used to ![]()

I know my sv1000 is running hotter with fairing on rather than belly pan ( I'll probabaly take them off for the summer). Do you have any thing obstructing air flow to the radiator like a radiator protector. My bike runs 86-88 when on the move and has gone to 106 sitting in traffic. otherwise generally runs between 92 - 106 when in the city.
