Hey,
I've had the chance to ride in some very heavy rain. As the story goes, my front wheel does not have an extended fender and as such, lots of water gets thrown in the general direction of the front cylinder. After some 5-10 mins of riding, the front cylinder started cutting out, and soon I was running on only one cylinder. Now surely, the fix was easy... After having passed the rainy portion, just blow some air in the holes that mr Suzuki cunningly provided for getting water out of the spark plugs and sure enough, it was running in no time. But I have to ask myself : Among the many org members there's plenty who ride in all weather conditions. Surely there must be some fix to this, otherwise running through any large puddle would cut out the front cylinder. So what is there to do? Get a front wheel fender extender? That would solve only the water spraying problem, but would not solve the running through a puddle problem... Covering the front cylinder head in some sort of coating? Surely, if it were that, mr Suzuki would probably had done himself, so it's less likely Perhaps it's not a design problem at all and it's just a problem that my bike has due to some sort of failure... Help me ORGers! ![]() Ooooh, forgot to mention, I have an '00 Curvy. |

I know it would help a lot, but seems rather arbitrary... what if the wind blows from one side while it's raining heavily and enough water gets to the cylinder head ? (Is it even likely?)

i have a fender extender and am yet to have a problem with this in 3.5 years and over 30000 miles worth of riding in all conditions, riding an 02 curvy.

Guess that pretty much settles it
![]() But just to make sure, it's what is expected of a lack of fender extender, right? As in the engine is fine and this would normally happen when you do not have such a feature on the bike |

The front cylinder is a very common problem in the rain, the fenda extenda certainly helps to ease the problem alot

Both, dielectric grease and extender. Belt & braces.

I rode through the mother of all rain a few weeks ago, it was that hard that I had to follow a car in front of me to see where I was going. Fender Extender saved the day, bike never missed a beat. I have ridden through far less rain pre Fender Extender & ended up with a 325cc Suzuki.

Yeah, don't know who came up with'em.. They're kinda down on power and break down fairly easy
![]() Ok, in saying that they break down fairly easy I'm actually saying that I have no idea what sort of damage it does to the bike, but I would expect it to be consistent should it continue running on just one cylinder.. Perhaps because of crank position... maybe ![]() |
