Default Side stand hitting floor

Hi all still new to riding so this might seem silly to some.

I did a few track days on my sk9 last year and found that my side stand was hitting the floor, well the little pokey out bit about half way down you use to put it down. I just wanted to know do people just cut this bit off or get some kind if light weight replacement stand. I use the bike normally so removing the side stand is not an option.

oil the stand and check the spring to see if its returning fully, the foot peg should ground out first then the sidestand, also check chain adjustment as if its too slack it may knock the side stand down somtimes

I have never found that my side stand hits the ground coz my peg gets there first, also if your getting the side stand/ peg down u could move your body more and get the knee down

the gillies is your issue, ive got some on my SV and it caused that problem till i replaced the side stand for a GSXR SRAD 600 one many years back, its shorter and does not have the annoying loop

if you are having a problem its body position not a problem with the bike at all, dont worry about getting your knee down as it does not make you faster, you actualy are looking to have the bike as much upright as you can to put the power down, you need to lean off the bike more

One of my mates recommended taking the side stand off and putting the bike up on a paddock stand when you park it. Obviously, it helps you've got someone along to bung the stand under the bike.

In my case I'm so far from getting the pegs down it doesn't really matter.
