Default dash / instrument panel stopped working

Got my bike out (SV650s K2) yesterday having not ridden it for two weeks over christmas. my mileage, speedo and rev counter has stopped working. The other lights on the dash work - main beam, indicator, ignition etc, still work. Also the other electrics such as headlights and brake lights etc all work fine. I have checked the fuses under the seat and tried to take the dash off, however with failing light at 4.30pm today and no mains power in my garage I had to stop trying to find the fault.

any ideas what the fault may be? I have taken the bike out for a 20 mile ride in the vague hope the problem would sort itself, i couldn't see any obvious damage/unconnected wires before the daylight failed me.

There is a ten-amp fuse labelled 'meter' - check that first.

Next thing is to check power at the back of the dash with a test light or preferably a multimeter which will show excessive resistance in a voltage drop. If nothing then start tracing back through the wiring harness looking for areas that are chaffed and might have damaged the wiring + loose/dodgy connections.
If you have power, check the earth. If you have power and earth, clean the connectors with electrical contact cleaner (mandatory addition to the toolbox) and hopefully it is not the dash itself.
