PS3; free to play online and fewer screaming kids than on Xbox Live.
Also they don't break / scratch your discs as easily as Xboxs do. |

I would say xbox. But to be fair both have their advantages/disadvantages. But xbox can be linked to many windows programs (like media players ect so can play music off your computer through the xbox for example). Have had the red ring of death issue, but even though was out of warranty got a replacement free from microsoft.
Plus imho the games are better on xbox. |

xbox, had both and apart from the blu-ray player found the ps3 not as good. prefer xbox controllers, xbox gives you a much better online experience, yes you pay for it but its worth while. Also kinect is very good
depends why you want one i think as the xbox only wins on online gaming and kinect |

XBOX without a doubt. Cheaper games, better online play, better menus, better online setup generaly. Gets DLC first. Better controller setup. I've had mine a couple of year, maybe 3 and it's not broken or damaged any discs.
The originals ones used to overheat but that's long since been solved. Play both, see what you prefer. Quote:
PS3's, on percentage sold, break considerably more than than XBOX's

I don't do online gaming so that isn't anything to sway my judgement.
I noticed in the shops t'other day, the two main games I want (Assassins Creed and GT5) are made for both consoles. Is there any quality difference between the two consoles when playing these games? |

One of the biggest factors will be which controller you prefer, you'll just have to try both to know which.

depends what you want it for. I have a PS3, personally. But that is only because i was after an entertainment system more than just games.
The xbox without doubt it the better games consol. More selection of games (more exclusive to xbox titles), better controls, xbox live is more stable etc etc, However IMO being that the playstation also has Blue Ray, the online usage is free (have to pay something like £30 per year to go online with xbox) works with media drives a dream (only relevent if you have one of course) i think looks better, still has access to most games on the market and also there is a couple of playstation exclusives available, now has bbc i player, itv player and 4OD available straight from the main menu, xbox only has sky player which you still need a sky subscription to wantch tv on it. Plays is full HD straight out of the box, I dont think xbox is full HD (i could be stood corrected with this one however i think later xbox's are now HD but not sure) and for me i have more mates that have a PS3 over xbox so i am actually able to play them online, couldn't with an xbox, for me the PS3 was the better option, oh and the case that i cant think of a single person with an xbox that has not had it break on them and need to go through the long process of sending it back to microsoft to be fixed or replaced, and more often than not you will end up loosing everything on the hard drive (save games, music etc etc) google search "xbox 360 problems" = 62,100,000 results Playstation however i only know one person that has had one go wrong and that was due to overheating it was also a old style playstation, (sony claim to have solved the overheating problems witht he newer slim model) mot more telling google search "ps3 problems" = 19,800,000 results |

GT5 is PS3 only.
If you don't play online (apart from missing out on a MASSIVE part of modern day gaming) your probably better off with the PS3. A lot of modern games are mainly built around online play. All FPS (Call of Duty etc) have a 6 hour actual storyline game... then the rest is online, which you can quite easily spend 30 gameplay day playing if your geeky enough. Forza Motorsport 3 is better than GT5 anyway by the way... so maybe xbox still.
