Hi All
I have searched the site but to no avail. Can someone please confirm that the best tyre sizes for an SV minitwin are as follows: Front 120/70 ZR 17 - (i.e. higher profile than the standard 120/60) Rear 160/60 ZR 17 - standard size Is there really any need for me to try and fit a 180 rear (which seems to crop up in different threads) and are the sizes above both fine for wets? Any help would be appreciated. Jonesy |

Yep those are the standard sizes run by most Minitwin racers.
As long as it's within the rules you may want to try a 180 rear wet as it gives a bigger contact area on the side, but in the dry a 160 will be just fine. |

180 fits but is pinched to hell. Rim is a full inch smaller than what you'd normally fit a 180 on.

I don't think I'd want to fit an over-sized tyre to a race bike.
I'd wait for someone who actually races minitwins to confirm, but the sizes you suggest at the start seem sensible enough to me. Jambo

Jonesy,
I'd stick to the 120 & 160 correct sizes if I were you, its what the bike was designed for really.........not sure the bike will go any better on such a...........modification? Would be interested to know if anyone has noted any better handling though? Last edited by coxxy; 15-01-10 at 03:36 PM. |

Coxxy - think thats what i'm going to do. I take it though that the increase on the front from 120/60 to 120/70 is recommended though??

That is with trick new wheels. Check the rules.

Indeed, minitwins rules don't allow wider wheels.
