Hi Folks,
Ok managed to sell the YZF and picked up a fab 2007 SV650 K6 ... 6000 miles on the clock, perfect .... and just for a few pounds more than the 125 YZF ![]() However, I am on a restricted Lice for 2 years and need a restrictor for this bike, can someone tell me what the best one is too get and how to get it cert etc.... I have driven the bike without and it pulls like a train and I guess am no looking forward to it, though am no wanting in trouble... My insurance company never asked anything when I transfered the insurance, guess they wouldnt though! If anyone is selling one drop me a mail please, Cheers, Steph |

Just find a second hand 33BHP ECU, they usually go on here for around £40-£50.
Don't bother with a cert insurance might try to pressure you in the event of a claim, like they did with me, but after a load of abuse and forwarded some articles that say its not a legal requirement they backed off. http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/Ne...icate-rip-off/

Make sure you get the right 33BHP ECU. The 2003-2006 are the same. The 2007-2011 ones are different as the bike had 4 spark plugs on those years.
And dont remove it early. We had to dyno a bike here recently for the police that had been involved in an accident and the rider had removed the 33bhp ecu and put the stock one back on. I suspect they will be in alot of trouble now. Last edited by SV650Racer; 26-07-11 at 08:33 AM. |

FI International offer an alternative cheaper new kit for your bike at £172.99 and its a throttle stop (still expensive for what it is mind), so the bike effectivly stays un-restricted but you cant open the throttle more than a pre-set amount, therefore making only 33bhp or less on a dyno. |

The guys getting his dyno by the police would have a ban as it voids insurance and techincially your riding without a License? 6 points for driving without insurance and dunno how many for the other??
Strange my insurance company made a big deal about having the cert!! |

The certificate is worthless. Just proves it was done once. It's jut another thing that they do to make it more difficult for you. Maybe they don't want your business.

I got a restrictor for my K3 on E-Bay and it cost me less than twenty quid I seem to recall. Trawl through the classified section here and then E-Bay. If you look hard enough, you can usually find one. My restriction comes off next April, but doubtful I will sell the restrictor because it is useful if I sell the bike.
